Geographical Overview:
Goalpara district is strategically located between Latitude 25053' - 26030' North and Longitudes 9007' - 9105' East, bordered by the Brahmaputra to the north, the Garo Hill District of Meghalaya to the south east, Kamrup District to the east, and Dhubri District to the west. The district has a total area of 1824 square kilometers, of which 36,91527 hectares are covered in beautiful forest regions and 10,200 hectares are used for cultivation.
Demographics:
Goalpara district has a thriving population of 10,08,959 as of the 2011 census, with a balanced gender ratio. Language groups speaking Assamese, Bodo, Garo, Rabha, Bengali, and Nepali are all represented in the area.
Administrative Structure:
Goalpara district is divided into five Revenue Circles and eight Development Blocks, each contributing to the overall administrative efficiency. The district is further subdivided into 837 Revenue Villages, with Gaon Panchayats, Anchalik Panchayats, and Zila Parishad ensuring grassroots governance.
